Yesterday, we watched an amazing sporting event where Clare beat Cork in the All Ireland Hurling final. Marrying into a big Irish family opened up a huge new cultural experience with GAA a primary example.
(In Ireland, this is like Man United winning the Premiership!)
This evening, the winning team had a homecoming celebration and we watched it live online from Clarecastle, my wife’s home village where two of the players are from and where hundreds turned out to celebrate as they travelled to Ennis for a huge celebration.
In a speech by one of the players, they reminisced to their childhood where they themselves saw Clare win last time and shared the feelings of dreams and ambition to one day play for their county and win, with that dream coming true in front of 82,000 people in Croke Park, Dublin last night!
